Wilsthorpe School has been recognised for its high rates of student attendance, with an award from the Fisher Family Trust educational charity. In the 2024/25 academic year, attendance was 92.9%, which is 1.6% above the national rate of attendance for secondary schools (91.3%). Across the school’s 1,250 students, this equates to 3,800 extra days that Wilsthorpe students spent at school, compared with the average national rate of attendance. This places Wilsthorpe in the top 25% of similar schools nationally.

This excellent attendance record reflects the high levels of support that students enjoy from their families, as well as the fact that the vast majority of students themselves feel valued, supported, and encouraged by staff here at Wilsthorpe. Students who attend school regularly benefit from continuous learning, structured routines and a greater access to high quality teaching and support, all of which were reflected in the school’s strong GCSE and A Level results in summer 2025.

The 2025-26 academic year has started even more positively, with attendance of 94.6%, which is again well above national averages. Well done to every student who has started the new academic year in such good habits and thank you to all families for supporting this vital drive to promote regular school attendance.
