Wilsthorpe School is celebrating outstanding exam results that are historically their best to date, surpassing the previous highs set in 2019.
Students achieved an unprecedented number of top grades, with 20% of grades at the very highest levels of Grade 7, 8 or 9. Wilsthorpe School bucked the national trend, with students making progress significantly above national averages during their courses. For the first time in school’s history, over half of all students (55%) achieved English and Maths at Grade 5 or better and 75% of students achieved at least Grade 4s in these vital subjects.
Alongside the continued success of the school, which is part of The Two Counties Trust, some particular individual highlights include:

Esme Jackson achieved 3 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s and a Distinction*. She is planning to attend Wilsthorpe’s Sixth Form to study English Language, English Literature, French and Drama. Esme said, “I felt really nervous this morning, but my overall feeling now is one of relief. I am proud of myself and my achievements”

Shreea Rupal achieved 2 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, one Grade 7, two Grade 6s and one Grade 5. She also plans to join Wilsthorpe’s Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Philosophy & Ethics. Shreea said, “It feels like a huge weight off my shoulders, a lovely surprise in many ways. I have received great support from the school and know I will continue to get that support in Sixth Form”
Derek Hobbs, Headteacher at Wilsthorpe School, said “I am exceptionally pleased with today’s exam results and it has been a real pleasure to celebrate these achievements with students and their families. What lies behind these record-breaking outcomes is a great deal of hard work and focus from our students and tremendous support from our staff. I am delighted for our community, for the Two Counties family of which we are a part and, most of all, for the young people themselves.”
Wesley Davies, Chief Executive Officer of The Two Counties Trust, said “Well done to everyone at Wilsthorpe School who has received their GCSE results today. As a Trust we are committed to working together to provide our students with opportunities and experiences to enhance their life choices. We are delighted to see everyone’s hard work reflected in today’s strong results.”
